Blyth Coastguard team were called out this afternoon to help North East Ambulance Service rescue a man who had suffered a severe knee injury from the beach at Meggies Burn, Blyth.

The man had been playing with his dog when the incident occured very close to the waterline and there was an incomming tide.

The man was placed on a stretcher and carried 350 meters by the Coastguard and Ambulance crews to the awaiting ambulance which then transfered him to hospital.
