Businesses across Northumberland are being encouraged to stop sitting, and start moving as a nation-wide workplace fitness initiative is launched.
Employees in Northumberland are being invited to make the ‘Workplace Challenge’ programme part of their New Year’s resolution by Northumberland Sport.
The initiative will see employees win points for themselves, their department, and company or organisation by recording the sport and physical activity they take part in.
The Workplace Challenge will run from Monday, January 6, for eight weeks, and is being rolled out to encourage the Northumberland business community to lead more active lifestyles.
Joanne Edwards, from Northumberland Sport, said: “The Workplace Challenge website awards points depending on the type of activity you take part in and how intense it is; whether that is a lunchtime walk, a gym session in the evening or a game of football over the weekend.
“Basically the more you do, the more points you get.”
