Businesses from around the region are to showcase potential career paths to teenagers.
Ashington High School has teamed up with employers, universities, colleges and training providers for a careers event for 12 to 18-year-olds from across the region.
The event is on Wednesday, October 1, from 12.30pm to 3pm, followed by a post-16 information evening for Year 11 students and their parents.
Jenny Trapp, director of post-16 education, said: “This is the fourth year we’ve run the event.
“Providing quality career-related, impartial information, advice and guidance helps young people with career planning and signpost students to the range of opportunities and support services available.
“It’s vital to make sure they are aware of all their post-16 options and to support them with their career plans.
“Working together with industry and education partners we are showing students they can do anything they set their minds to and broadening their horizons in relation to careers and higher education.”
Some of the attendees in the past include Northumbria University, University of Cumbria, Newcastle University, Edinburgh Napier, Piramal, British Armed Forces, Citb Training, Akzonobel, Barclays Bank PLC, Northumberland Fire Service, Nissan, NHS, Narec, JTL training, Asda PLC and TDR Training.
Due to demand, external attendees to the post-16 information evening are asked to book their place. Email email@example.com or call (01670) 812166.
