Gloomy weather didn’t dampen the spirits as crowds turned out for New Hartley Summer Fair.

Attractions were set up in the sports field, park, marquee and Memorial Hall on Saturday, including stalls, a bungee trampoline, merry-go-round, cream teas and a test-your-strength machine from 1890.

I want to thank everyone who gave their time and effort to organise the Summer Fair. This annual event is a true community effort.

Clive Raper, Chairman of New Hartley Community Association

The fair raises money for the upkeep of the Memorial Hall, which was built to commemorate fallen villagers from the First World War.

New Hartley Community Association, which was involved in the event, is now seeking volunteers for its next litter pick on Saturday, July 12. People should meet at the Memorial Hall in the centre of the village at 10am. Jackets, litter-pickers and rubbish bags will be provided.
