Fair play goes down a treat with children and parents

all the fun of the fair was on offer at an Ashington school on Friday.

Hirst Park Middle School’s summer fair was officially opened by Wansbeck MP Ian Lavery and included hook-a-duck, face-painting and the chance to throw sponges at teachers.

Yvette Robertson, inclusion manager at the school, said: “It was a fantastic and successful afternoon in so many ways.

“The Friends of Hirst Park have worked so hard in pulling the wider community together and involving local businesses, who have been so generous in the donations they have made.

“It’s great to be raising money for school funds, but, more importantly, families have had the chance of spending quality time in school together.”
