teacher Fay Jessup was all smiles after being singled out for praise.

Real Radio’s morning show host Chris Sibley, alias Sibbers, paid a surprise visit to Seaton Delaval’s Astley High School as part of the Team Valley-based station’s Put A Real Smile On Your Face campaign to reward people for making a difference to their communities.

Fay was given a bouquet of flowers and a picture of a smile.

She was nominated for the visit by Deborah Barnes, one of her pupils’ mothers.

“Miss Jessup is an amazing and supportive teacher whose lessons are so engaging, interesting and inspiring,” Deborah said.

“It’s mainly down to her that Rachael had made brilliant progress in the sciences and now wants to begin studying them next year in the sixth form at Astley.”

John Barnes, head teacher at Astley High School, said: “The teaching that Miss Jessup provides really is outstanding and she is highly respected by everyone at the school.

“I am thrilled that Real Radio spotlighted such a fantastic member of staff.”
