A WOMAN was targeted by a suspected sex attacker while out jogging in Bedlington on Sunday night.
The 32-year-old victim was grabbed by a man and pushed to the ground while out for a run in the cut between Hartlands and Westlea at about 9pm.
The attacker then tried to pull her trousers down, but she was able to get away after kicking him in the face.
The man is thought to be in his late teens or early 20s, of slim to medium build and around 5ft 7in tall. He had mousy-coloured hair short at the sides and back and was wearing a dark jumper or hooded top.
Inspector Karen Murray, of Bedlington neighbourhood policing team, said: “We are treating this incident as an attempted sexual assault, and we are appealing for anyone with any information to contact us.
“We have extra officers in the area carrying out inquiries and providing reassurance to the community.
“We want to trace the offender as quickly as possible.”
Anyone able to help track down the attacker is asked to contact police on 101 ext 69191.
