I have to question the consultants’ claim of a potential £100m benefit to the local economy should the county council headquarters be relocated from County Hall in Morpeth to Ashington (News Post Leader, September 18).
Surely, this figure is mere speculation?
Morpeth is already awash with applications for major housing development.
There is no guarantee the current County Hall site will be approved for housing development.
And what about the revenue lost in the town due to moving hundreds of workers to alternative sites in the county? That would all be at the detriment of Morpeth’s economy.
I remain an interested spectator.
