Fire service academy on look out for boxers

COACHES are looking for new participants to join Northumberland Fire and Rescue Service’s boxing academy.

The academy at West Hartford Community Fire Station and headquarters, is seeking new members, male or female, aged ten to 40.

All equipment is provided and coaching is supervised by ABA qualified coaches.

Training runs on Wednesday and Friday nights, 6.30pm to 8.30pm, and Sunday 9.30am to 11am. All sessions cost £1.

Paul Hedley, assistant chief fire officer, said: “The club was set up Northumberland Fire and Rescue Service officers to help people get fit, gain confidence and try out an exciting new sport under the watchful eye of experienced, qualified coaches.

“Nobody joining the club will be expected to participate in full contact boxing unless they want to, the decision will be left to each individual.”
