Floral displays are blooming poor

I WAS amazed to read in last week’s News Post Leader that Cramlington had won a silver medal in the large town category in the Northumbria in Bloom contest.

I live in Cramlington and am disgusted with its floral displays, especially on the roundabouts surrounding the town.

The flowers that were planted were a disgrace, with a lot of them looking half-dead when they were put in and the rest perishing within a fortnight.

This has left the so-called displays looking straggly and unattended.

What visitors to our town must think goodness knows.

Who is actually responsible for the displays this year and what were the judges judging?

I can only assume that the other towns were worse than us.

It is disappointing to travel a few miles over to Newcastle and see the amazing floral displays on every street corner. A small part of that would have been acceptable.

The paths and walkways in and around Cramlington are totally neglected. A lot are covered in weeds or overgrown.

I would like to know just what my council tax is being used for. It certainly isn’t being used for the upkeep of my home town.
