A total of 14 people have been prosecuted in one day for littering offences.
Northumberland County Council is targeting the small minority whose behaviour spoils towns and villages in the county.
During 2014 officers from across the council’s Local Services Group have been out in force targeting littering hotspots across Northumberland and further anti-littering operations will be taking place across the county throughout 2015.
Coun Ian Swithenbank policy board holder for streetcare and environment, said: “Northumberland is famous for its unspoilt beaches, beautiful countryside and pretty towns and villages.
“We’re determined to keep it that way and we won’t tolerate the small, irresponsible minority who drop litter on our streets, parks or beaches. It only takes a few seconds to put rubbish in a bin.”
