A fiddle and folk concert brought festive fun to a Cramlington care home in the run up to Christmas.

Astor Court and Lodge View Care Home, hosted the concert as part of an on-going music therapy programme at the home, held in partnership with national charity Music In Hospitals.

Residents and staff danced and sang along as Ashington-based music duo Robert Whitehead and Tom McConville played piano accordion and fiddle music and sang popular traditional folk songs.

The concert was provided by charity Music In Hospital (MIH), and is the first in a series of on-going concerts at Astor Court and Lodge View performed by high level professional musicians sourced by the charity.

Richard Dobinson, activities coordinator at Astor Court and Astor Lodge View care home, said: “It was a fantastic afternoon for all involved. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the performance and there was lots of smiles, laughter and dancing all around.

“We are really looking forward to working with Music In Hospitals and hosting similar concerts in the near future.”
