Food lovers are being invited to a town’s inaugural festival.

Ashington Community Development Trust have organised the town’s first food festival, and are hoping it will become a regular feature on the calendar.

It will take place in Station Road, Ashington, from 10am to 4pm on Saturday, August 8.

The event aims to celebrate all the best food from the Northumberland area while there will also be a circus school by Bad Apples and children’s rides.

More than 30 individual stalls promoting a range of culinary delights will be set up and organisers are hoping to attract over 2,000 people.

Janet Cresswell, trust manager, said: “We are aiming for this to be an annual event to showcase the best that the area has to offer.

“It will help to promote local businesses and encourage more visitors to the town. We are very proud that our Charity has been able to put this event together for the community.”
