Free family fun day to mark park’s anniversary

Residents are being invited to attend a family fun day at an Ashington park and share their memories and photos from the past.

This year is the 100th anniversary of the opening of Hirst Park in Ashington.

To celebrate and gather ideas for improving the park, a free family fun day is being held on Monday, July 20, from noon until 4pm.

The event will include children’s funfair rides, sports, games and activities, football competitions and Play Ranger games, all free to take part in.

The organisers are also asking visitors to take along pictures to be entered for the best old photograph competition, with prizes for the best landscape shot of the park, best image with people in and the funniest photo in the park. Email hirstpark@northumberland.gov.uk
