A PHOTOGRAPH on Facebook has created quite a stir with former classmates of the old Guide Post Secondary School.

Now living in the United States, John Taylor, who lived at Choppington High Pit and was a pupil at the school, found the picture of his old class year from the late 1960s and uploaded it to the social networking site.

His hope was to put names to the faces of those who finished their Guide Post education in the 1972-73 school year.

Such was the response that other pictures were discovered and those who began to make contact with each other decided to hold a reunion event.

However, there are a number of people they are still looking to get in touch with.

The group still need to find: Gary Balfour, Jill Blayney, Marion Brezsisnky, Pauline Bulmer, Russell Cannell, Robert Davison, Catherine Dwyer, Kenneth Dodds, Denise Gow, Robert Ingham, Elaine Jensen, Graham Lewis, Joan Leslie, Lizzie Orr, Caroline Rees, Peter Thirlwell, Margaret Taylor and Hanalore Wells.

They will all be 54 to 55-years-old and the girls’ maiden names are all that are known.

Some of the ‘star guests’ at the reunion will be Mr Taylor, who now lives in Birmingham, Alabama, George Cochrane, who is coming over from Canada, Michael Turnbull, travelling from Germany and Vicky Holding (nee Martin), who is coming all the way from Western Australia.

The group also found ten former teachers who have agreed to attend the get-together.

The reunion is being run by a committee of Kath Hodgkins, Pat Jamieson, Derek Lyall, Edd Scurfield and Tom Reynolds.

Anyone who was in the 72-73 class can e-mail schoolreunion1972-3@live.co.uk

The group is also keen to find photographs of the school as little information has been kept.

Anybody who has pictures is asked to get in touch as it is hoped a model of the school building can be created for the reunion.
