FUNDING: Cuts are just not right

I do think Coun Peter Jackson, elected member for Ponteland South and leader of Northumberland Conservatives, obviously missed the point I was trying to make in a recent letter (News Post Leader, February 4).

Whether I declared that I was a parish Labour councillor or not really doesn’t matter. I can assure him, having proudly represented my area for the past 25 years where people have seen my political allegiance on the ballot paper, residents already knew that.

I did try to say I didn’t care where County Hall was.

He should be spending as much time trying to help residents of Northumberland by campaigning against his government’s massive cuts instead of subjecting us to his inches of column blaming the Labour administration.

To briefly demonstrate this he argues relocation will cost us £10m next year and £25m over three years. I don’t know if that’s true or not. What I do know is his chancellor has taken £98m from us over the next four years.

Why aren’t you writing to him and others at Tory HQ telling them it’s not right and money is going to the wrong places.
