An project encouraging residents to find their creative flair is going from strength to strength.

Volunteers at Bedlington Community Centre, supported by bait, secured funding from the Arts Council’s Grants for the Arts scheme to support residents taking part in various arts.

A range of artists will lead sessions at the centre and an exhibition of the work produced will be on display in this winter.

And a ‘craft’ group has been working with artist Yvette Hawkins to look at the local wildlife which has been an inspiration for some collage and printing work.

Next members will work with artist Stevie Ronnie to draw on the history of Bedlington to run a series of eight creative writing sessions.

Anyone who would like to try their hand at writing poetry, stories or creative letters and to think about how writing can be combined with other art forms should go along to the Bedlington Creatives group which meets on a Thursday from 10am to noon.

No previous experience is necessary. New members welcome. The session is free with a suggested donation of £2 to help towards cost of materials.
