A fundraiser is aiming to continue her good work and raise more money for two cancer charities.

Susan MacKellar has spent five years raising money for Breast Cancer Now and her latest event will also support The Brain Tumour Charity after meeting two people battling terminal brain cancer.

The event will take place on Friday, April 29, at Bedlington Community Centre from 7pm. Local singer Joshua James will be entertaining the crowd while there will also be a disco, nibbles and handmade cards to buy.

Susan was inspired after meeting Natalie Sweeney last year, who was diagnosed with a grade 3 cancerous incurable brain tumour called an oligodendroglioma.

She had been suffering from headaches, then double vision, and visited doctors four times before she was diagnosed, being rushed to the RVI in Newcastle to undergo lifesaving surgery to remove most of the tumour.

After undergoing radiotherapy then chemotherapy which left her drained and getting her words mixed up, Natalie has managed to continue with everyday life and routines.

Natalie said: “What advice would I give to people facing cancer? Remain positive, laugh everyday, surround yourself with your loved ones and most of all, act like you ain’t got it.”

Tickets are £10 and can be purchased from Bedlington Community Centre on (01670) 824141, online from www.ticketsource.co.uk/date/224141 or email gopinkwithsusanmackellar@gmail.com
