A special fundraising evening has raised more than £1,200 to help a youngster with vital physiotherapy.

De La Val Lodge of Mark Master Masons and its Royal Ark Mariner Lodge meet at the Seaton Delaval Freemasons’ Hall, where Callum’s Wish To Walk was chosen as the 2013 beneficiary of the annual gathering, where a recent event raised a total of £1,281.

Nine-year-old Callum Brown suffers from cerebral palsy.

He went to St Louis Children’s Hospital in the United States last January where he underwent an operation on his spine to enable him to walk for the first time in his life.

The Wish To Walk appeal has been sponsored by Whitley-Bay based umbrella charity Angels of the North since the appeal started nearly two years ago.

Lodge treasurer Clive Robson said: “I knew about Callum because I work part-time at New Hartley First School where Callum was a pupil until July this year and everyone there was moved by this young boy’s bravery.”
