A parental group in Ashington has banished the winter blues with an autumn fair in support of two local schools.
The Friends of Bothal and Wansbeck schools work all year round to raise funds to support projects and other developments that enable both schools to continue to grow.
MP Ian Lavery was the guest of honour at the event and treated himself to a winter warmer hand massage from Bothal’s pupil pamper team, who were taking an evening off from their health and beauty studies to showcase their talents and support the fundraising event.
Parent Vee Luke, who oversees the work of the friends’ events group, said: “It has been a really successful autumn fair.
“Both schools do a fantastic job with our children, so as parents if we can have some fun whilst putting something back by raising some additional funds, then that is an added bonus.”
The fair raised around £500 for the schools.
