A mum is hoping to help people roll with it as she raises awareness of autism.

Toni Townsley, whose seven-year-old son has autism, has organised a sponsored roller disco to raise awareness and cash for the National Autistic Society.

“As a parent of a young boy with autism help is scarce,” she said.

“The National Autistic Society has resources, support and help for carers, parents, professionals and siblings.

“This has been a massive help to my daughter, who struggles to understand her brother’s behaviours.”

The disco will be held at Newbiggin Sports Centre from 11am to 1pm on Saturday, March 28, and a skate hire will be £1, with proceeds going to the Natioanl Autistic Society.

Toni added: “Thank you to www.skatersclub.org.uk who are providing their services free of charge.”
