An estate will open its formal gardens to the public this weekend to raise money for a charity.
Blagdon Estate will be open from noon until 4.30pm on Sunday, when guests will be treated to an afternoon of family friendly outdoor entertainment.
The annual event is this year raising money for St Oswald’s Hospice.
Visitors can explore the extensive grounds, visit the arboretum and take a stroll on a woodland walk, as well as enjoy pony rides, trailer tours, refreshments and various stalls, including some set up by the hospice.
Blagdon has a prominent history within the north east, having being owned by the same family since 1700.
Lyn Cain, fundraiser at St Oswald’s, said: “The open garden event will be a wonderful family day out, with plenty on offer for people of all ages.
“We are extremely grateful to the Blagdon Estate for holding the event in order to help us raise money.
“We need to raise £6.5m each year to continue caring for adults, young people and children across the north east.”
Tickets cost £3.50 and children under ten go free.
