A Blyth man has been presented with a Gold Bomber pin by prime minister David Cameron after completing 20 deterrent patrols.

Royal Navy Chief Petty Officer Garry Conolly was presented with the honour during a ceremony on board the Vanguard-class submarine HMS Victorious.

Mr Cameron’s visit marked the 100th Vanguard-class deterrent patrol.

He spent time with crew members on board the strategic missile submarine and visited the vessel’s operations room, messes and living spaces.
