Genealogy group holds workshop

Newbiggin Genealogy Project will be holding its next workshop for any0ne interested in the programme at Newbiggin Maritime Centre on Saturday, March 15, from 2pm to 4pm.

Entitled ‘How well do we know Newbiggin by the Sea?’ and open to everyone, the public meeting will use maps and census material utilising group discussions and a quiz to explore ‘Old Newbiggin’ and find out more about the people who lived there.

Chairman of the initiative Hilton Dawson said: “Newbiggin Genealogy Project is continuing to grow, with more members, an ever expanding database and the completion of our first training course for volunteers undertaken with the support of Woodhorn Museum. On March 15, the group will be thinking about new ways to understand and explain family history across the geography of the town.”
