A group of geochachers have helped clear up a county beauty spot as part of a Cache In Trash Out event.

More than 20 people met up at Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Country park in Ashington, where they spent hours walking around the park and collecting rubbish.

Daren Hill from the group said: “Besides looking for tupperware boxes we also hold several other types of event like Cache In Trash Out, where we try collect as much rubbish as we can.

“We ended up with over a dozen bags full of cans, nappies, dog poo bags, wheels and many other strange items that had been dumped.

Neil Stothard had arranged the event via geocaching.com and people turned up from as far as Scarborough.
