Golf club raises cash for charity

More than £3,000 has been raised for dementia sufferers by members of a Northumberland golf club.

In January last year Nick Marshall was elected Captain of Newbiggin Golf Club, and as is customary he was asked to select a charity for the club to support during his term in office.

Nick’s wife Ann works at Northumberland, Tyne and Wear NHS Foundation Trust (NTW) which has its own charity to provide little extra comforts for service users, such funding arts and crafts activities and buying equipment for activities such as gardening projects and sports.

Nick said: “We used all sorts of methods to raise money, including a raffle for a parking space.

“The Ordnance Survey Corporate Charity Panel also kindly gave us £500 in match funding.”

A cheque was presented to NTW for £3,540.
