A charity golf day has raised £1,000 for babies at Wansbeck General Hospital who need a little extra care.

Dave Osborn, from Cramlington, organised the event at Seahouses for the hospital’s special care baby unit, run by Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.

The day was the first charity event for his employer Deakin Printers Ltd, of Monkseaton.

Dave said: “We started raising money for the unit three years ago after a friend’s baby was looked after so well.

“We have continued every year since then as it is such a good cause and the staff provide such excellent care.”

The event, which involved 60 players, also raised £1,300 for local cancer charities.

The donation was through Northumbria Healthcare’s Bright Charity.

The charity works to provide the extras which ensure patients have the best experience possible.
