Gospels graffiti art goes on show at Woodhorn

A Dutch artist has been commissioned by the Lindisfarne Gospels programme to create original work based on the words and imagery of the Gospels at Woodhorn Museum in Ashington.

Niels ‘Shoe’ Meulman is creating five pieces of work at sites across the north east, including at Woodhorn.

Niels revolutionised the art of writing with Calligraffiti, an art form that fuses calligraphy and graffiti, and his Calligraffiti pieces (signed NSM) have been shown in various international exhibitions and are part of several museum collections.

The works, created using metallic paints, will be in-situ for four to six weeks, subject to environmental conditions.

As the artwork is weather dependent, call (01670) 624455 or check for updates on the Woodhorn Facebook page.
