A seeds to success project is celebrating after receiving grant support.
Wansbeck CVS received the donation from Lloyds TSB Foundation to support its project partnership with the Ashington High Market Allotment Society, where volunteers have transformed a derelict piece of land into a community orchard.
Anne Lyall, chief executive of the CVS, said: “We are delighted to receive this support from Lloyds TSB.
“The grant will support the delivery costs of the project which enables volunteers from a wide range of backgrounds to continue to make a difference to this community orchard.
“The volunteers are supervised by a qualified horticultural supervisor and they have transformed this site into an allotment that is growing produce for the first time in a number of years.
“The project will also provide support for those volunteers wishing to move into employment by learning new skills, and providing jobsearch activities.”
