A COMMUNITY group is closing in on their target following the latest activity in a fundraising drive.
WATBike – part of WATBus – held an Oscars themed awards and fundraising night at South Beach Community Centre in Blyth.
It was part of an overall fundraising campaign to raise £34,000 for a new wheelchair-accessible minibus.
Cycle development officer Colin Hall said: “The support has been fantastic.
“A massive thank you to everyone and to Steels of Gosforth who donated a fabulous TREK bike for our raffle and to Greggs for our supper.”
WATBus transport manager Lynn McIntosh said: “The evening was great fun and raised £500 for WATBus Community transport charity.
“Thanks to all the volunteers, we have raised £26,000 and only need to find another £9,000 to buy a new wheelchair accessible minibus, which will be used by lots of different community groups to benefit all ages and abilities.”
