Guides from across Northumberland undertook a ‘GADabout’ day trip last weekend.
The girls, including members from Blyth and Cramlington, were taken on a trip to Druridge Bay County Park where they took part in a string of activities.
The youngsters, aged from ten to 14, enjoyed geocaching, sailing, canoeing, raft building, archery, pioneering, and outdoor cooking on an open fire as well as beach games.
The group’s leader, Madeline Russell, said: “The trip to Druridge Bay Country Park was a great chance for the girls to get away and enjoy each other’s company in a safe, girl-only space.
“All the girls told me how much they enjoyed themselves and they can’t wait to decide where they want to go next and plan another adventure.”
Adventures such as this are just part of the range of activities open to girls and young women through Girlguiding, which allow them to grow in confidence, raise their aspirations and have fun in a safe, girl-only space.
