FOOTBALL fan David Parker has won a signed Newcastle United shirt by Northern Rock after naming his favourite moment in the club’s history.
The 45-year-old, of Second Avenue in Blyth, won the shirt in a competition run by Northern Rock.
David chose Faustino Asprilla’s hat-trick during the Magpies’ 3-2 victory over Barcelona at St James’s Park in the Champions League in 1997, and his name was picked out of a hat at random to earn him the shirt.
The draw was held to promote the bank’s forthcoming Skills Rock website giving Toon fans the chance to view film footage and, where that doesn’t exist, recreations of some of the most memorable Magpie moments of the past.
Goals to be featured include Jackie Milburn’s FA Cup thunderbolt against Blackpool in 1951 and Cheick Tiote’s equaliser in the 4-4 draw at home to Arsenal last season.
David said: “Newcastle United is my team. They always have been and always be.
“They have provided me with some fantastic moments over the years, and I hope they will continue to do so.
“To win a signed NUFC shirt is special, and it will take pride of place on the wall in my house.”
