NEWBIGGIN Heritage Partnership re-elected its existing management committee for another year at last week’s annual meeting.
Members of the partnership – which created the Newbiggin Maritime Centre – were shown how planting around the centre was completed with more than 1,500 wild flower plugs, but also how a sandstorm almost killed them all off.
They were asked to join the wild flower garden team to develop the space over the next two or three years and members of the public with an interest in gardening were also invited to join.
The partnership is looking at heritage-related projects which it hopes will bring more community activity to Newbiggin and welcome members old and young to join them.
The Maritime Centre will continue to be run by the subsidiary company set up for this purpose by Newbiggin Heritage Partnership, which relies on volunteers.
