A Bedlington care home has been recognised as one of the best in the sector for its dementia work.

Meadow Park Care Home was selected as one of 12 centres to take part in a ten-month trial of Barchester Healthcare’s new 10-60-6 dementia care programme, which included improvements to personalised care services, as well as training for staff to better understand what it means to live with dementia.

Senior Barchester dementia care specialists have now visited the home and found it met all the new standards to achieve the 10-60-6 accreditation, and a certificate and trophy were presented at a celebratory lunch.

Acting general manager Ray Robson said: “Over the last ten months the changes we have made to our dementia care services have made a big difference to the lives of those we care for.”
