Hotel guests had to be evacuated after a fire broke out in the early hours of Sunday morning.

People staying at the Thoroton Hotel in Marlow Street, Blyth, were evacuated after the fire on Sunday, March 15.

Three fire crews were called to the hotel at 1.45am, where three people were rescued from the building.

The residents were allowed to return at around 11am, and no one was injured.

Enquiries are on-going into the cause of the fire which at this stage is not known.

Two men have been arrested on suspicion of arson and have been released on police bail.

Police are appealing for information and asking any witnesses to contact them on 101 ext 69191.
