THREE men are being hunted by police following an attempted armed robbery in Choppington.

Police were called to a house in Gordon Terrace at 10.40pm on Tuesday last week after receiving reports of three men brandishing firearms being seen there.

The men had asked for cash to be handed over, but when they were told there was no money, they left empty-handed.

No one was injured in the incident.

A police investigation is ongoing, and extra patrols are being mounted in the village.

Chief Inspector Dave Felton, of the police’s Northumberland area command: “I’d like to reassure people that we do not believe this was a random incident and an investigation is ongoing to trace the people involved.

“We’re making inquiries and would ask anyone with information to contact police.”

Potential witnesses are asked to call police on 101 ext 69191.
