Illegal parking out of control

SOME councillors at County Hall really need a reality check.

With regards to the issue of introducing parking charges, they are living in cloud cuckoo land if they think that will have any impact on many of the drivers who live or visit Blyth.

Blyth has an abundance of free parking but that does not stop some lazy, inconsiderate individuals parking their vehicles wherever they want.

The inconsiderate people I speak of cause traffic congestion opposite the taxi rank, park on the edge of the market opposite the TSB and Halifax banks.

The illegal parking that I have just mentioned falls into insignificance when you consider the dangerous parking of parents parking on zig-zag markings outside schools.

These parents are putting children in danger just for the sake of walking a few extra yards.

It is just the matter of time before some innocent child is killed or badly injured.

I wrote to the Northumbria Police chief constable with regards to my concerns and received a phone call from an officer stating that the local authority would be taking the parking issues over.

Someone in authority needs to be upholding the laws in this country, in this town, with regards to parking violations.

They need to think about increasing their revenue like North Tyneside has.
