MEMBERS of the county’s WIs displayed their winning cookery skills during a competition at a garden centre.

Heighley Gate Nursery & Garden Centre near Morpeth hosted a competition and display.

Sarah Tait, events co-ordinator at the centre, said: “We invited members of the Northumberland Federation of WIs to hold a cooking competition.

“The women then brought their culinary creations to be judged.

“This consisted of eight categories, including a decorated chocolate cake, cheese scones and fruit cordial so there was something to make everyone’s mouth water.”

“There was also a Co-operative category, which featured collaborative entries from a WI group.”

The entries were judged by three accredited judges from the WI.
