Last nail in coffin for indoor bowling clubs

Have your say

The indoor bowls club at Concordia Leisure Centre in Cramlington is to close to make way for a ten-pin bowling alley and I have not met one person who agrees with this.

For 37 years this well established voluntary organised club with 380 members has provided a first class social amenity with financial input.

An organisation called ‘Active’ Northumberland has decided to spend money to re-vamp our leisure centre and to make it more profitable.

We are told to move with the times but will the novelty of ten-pin bowling last 37 years or three months?

The leisure centre is well used by the community but the proposals for change were made without consulting the users with profit coming before the welfare of the most vulnerable in our society.

Northumberland councillors must feel some shame as the last nail goes into the coffin.

Next year in Northumberland, indoor bowling will be extinct.
