Two libraries in Northumberland are taking part in an initiative to raise awareness of matters affecting the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) community.
LGBT History Month is being held this month to celebrate the lives and achievements of the LGBT community in the UK and to promote equality and diversity for the benefit of everyone.
To highlight the stories and experiences of LGBT people and to provide information about sources of support, resources and books are being displayed at Ashington and Cramlington Libraries.
Leader of Northumberland County Council, Councillor Grant Davey, said: “I am proud to lead a council that promotes equality and inclusion.
“We value diversity and we welcome the opportunity provided by LGBT History Month to recognise the contribution LGBT people have made.
“For the second year running, Northumberland County Council has been recognised as a top-100 employer in the Stonewall workplace equality Index which promotes good practice for LGBT employees.”
