A new historical DVD that takes a look at schools and childhood in south east Northumberland has been put together.
The one-hour long When We Were Young production, features some rare archive footage and still photographs looking back at school days in the county.
The DVD has been produced by local history group Sixtownships and is the latest in its films looking at the region’s past.
Among the features on the film is footage from Ashington Gala in 1955, class photographs from Cambois, Blyth, Choppington, Barrington, Morpeth and Bedlington schools, as well as the renowned Northumberland Miners’ Picnic.
John Dawson, of Sixtownships, said the new film offers a great trip down memory lane to remind people of their school days.
“We know people will enjoy this as we look back at when we were young,” he said.
The new DVD is available to buy now from.sixtownships.org.uk or from Als Superstore in Ashington, priced at £5.49.
