Aaron's design wins logo competition
YOUNGSTERS at a Blyth school drew on their artistic skills to design a logo for a development of new homes nearby.
Pupils from Horton Grange First School took up the challenge from Barratt Homes, which is starting work on 90 new homes at Horton Park, off Chase Farm Drive.
The overall winner was Year 1 pupil Aaron Toole, whose colourful design will now be featured on signs and posters at the development.
Six-year-old Aaron and the other winners were presented with gift vouchers by Bernard Rooney, managing director of Barratt North East, who said: "The children produced some very imaginative ideas. The standard of entries was very high and a credit to the school."
Mr Rooney also handed over a cheque for the Children's Liver Disease Foundation to Alison Cavagin, whose son Matthew has been diagnosed with liver disease.
Pupils at the school recently donned all-yellow gear to take part in a Big Yellow Friday fundraising event for the charity.
