Academy enjoys carol service to end year

STAFF, students and special guests celebrated another successful year with a carol service for the festive season.

Bede Academy in Blyth, echoed to music, song, and Yuletide readings at its fourth annual carol service.

The academy orchestra opened the event with a rendition of March from The Nutcracker before a welcome address from principal Gwyneth Evans and opening prayer by chairman of governors Nigel Robson.

Carols were followed by more readings and performances by Bede’s primary and secondary site choirs.

The Year 7 choir sang Ring Out the Bells and Creation Sings the Father’s Song and there was a harmonious duet of Pie Jesus by student Olivia Byrom and head of music Helen Kerr.

Principal of St John’s College, Durham, Reverend Professor David Wilkinson closed the carol concert with a prayer and the orchestra played Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy from The Nutcracker.
