Academy in top ten nationwide

IMPROVED exam results have put one Northumberland academy in the top ten per cent of the country.

The Northumberland Church of England Academy has achieved a value-added score of 1045.5 for the progress made by learners in last academic year’s Year 11.

Value-added scores are a measure of work with learners between key stages 2 and 4.

Executive director Andrew Day said: “This score of 1045.5 should put us in the top ten per cent of schools nationally for adding value to our learners.

“It is testament to colleagues, parents and learners working together to achieve incredible results.

“We are seeing many parents make a positive choice to send their children here, and we are now oversubscribed in many year groups.

“Our commitment to ensuring that every learner and member of staff is the best they can be is the driver behind everything we do, and that is what brings about results like these.

“We are immensely proud of these achievements by our learners and the staff who have worked hard to enable this to happen.”
