Hundreds of people from across Northumberland helped celebrate the best of the county as part of a special festival.
The fourth annual Northumberland Residents’ Festival, organised by Northumberland County Council, saw more than 200 entrants in the photography competition, all attempting to capture the county at its finest.
And Alison Ellerbrook, was selected as the winner of the photo for her image of two friendly donkeys at Kirkley Hall.
“The donkeys were very accommodating and look like they are posing for me, but it was actually a lucky snap shot while my daughter was busy being entertained by the rabbits,” she said.
“We visited Kirkley Hall as my daughter is five and at the zoo she had the opportunity to interact with the animals and get out in the fresh air.
“I run my own business from home so I like to get out and about at the weekend, and it’s fantastic to have places like Kirkley Hall on our doorstep.”
Nigel Walsh, from Northumberland County Council, said: “There was a clear increase in visitor numbers in comparison to the past three years – this year on year growth is very encouraging and we are delighted that the festival is proving so popular.”
Jenny Cairns, from Kirkley Hall Zoological Gardens, said: “We had a fantastic turn out over the weekend and as this is our second year participating we can really see the difference the weekend makes to welcoming new faces to Kirkley Hall.”
