A Northumberland woman has won a new car in a national drive to raise funds for abandoned animals.
Alison Slack, from Cramlington, won a new Ford Fiesta Zetec after buying the winning raffle ticket in the ‘Spring Fundraising Drive’ run by the UK’s largest grant giving animal charity Support Adoption For Pets, which is supported nationally by Pets at Home.
The winning ticket was purchased from the Pets at Home store in Cramlington, which raised a total of £834 for its charity partner Helping Pets North East and PARRT Cat and Dog Rescue.
Support Adoption For Pets sold a total of 422,773 tickets across the country, in addition to its ‘Round up to a £1’ initiative and in store fundraising events, raising more than £519,000 for local animal sanctuaries.
Amy Wilson, charity manager at Support Adoption For Pets, said: “We’d like to say a big thank you to everyone who supported the Spring Fundraising Drive and helped us to raise such a phenomenal amount for animal sanctuaries cross the UK.
“We hope Alison enjoys her new car and would encourage others to help raise awareness and donate to our upcoming fundraising campaigns.”
Alison said: “I would like to say thank you to Support Adoption For Pets for both my prize and the work that they do.
“Having a two-year-old Springer Spaniel myself, named Doug, I love animals and know how important it is to support local animal centres.
“I am really pleased to hear that the Cramlington Pets at Home stored raised over £800 for two deserving local charities.”
Alison was presented with her car by Support Adoption For Pets charity manager Amy Wilson and Pets at Home area manager Andrea Bruce.
