Four pupils took part in a sports partnership programme at a major event.

The four from Bedlingtonshire Community High School represented the Blyth and Bedlington partnership alongside more than 100 young people from the region.

The Youth Sport Trust held the conference for new Young Ambassadors for Sport at Northumbria University’s Coach Lane campus.

The Year 9 and 10 students were chosen by their PE teachers who thought they would be good ambassadors for their school at the conference as well as exemplary role models.

The students attended an opening ceremony, which included a question and answer session with Craig Heap, an Olympic and gold medal winning Commonwealth Games gymnast.

They then attended four workshops throughout the day.

These focused on the students making the most of their potential and encouraging them to make a difference in their schools.

The programme seeks to develop high level employability and life skills in the young ambassadors.

The students’ next challenge is to act on the skills they have learnt and start to put their ideas in to action for the benefit of their school and the pupils in it.
