Armed robbery at bookmakers

A quantity of cash was stolen during an armed robbery on a bookmakers in Blyth.

A man armed with a knife entered Chisholm Bookmakers, in Briardale Road, at 8.55pm on Thursday, January 23, and threatened a member of staff.

He stole a quantity of cash and made off.

No one was injured during the incident but the staff member was shaken by the robbery.

The offender is described as being in his mid 20s, 5ft 10ins tall, skinny to medium build, with a freckled complexion, ginger eyebrows and a local accent.

He was wearing a grey coat with a hood, gloves and dark tracksuit bottoms.

Officers attended, making a search of the area and carried out house to house enquiries.

Police are appealing for witnesses, anyone who was in the area and who may have seen or heard anything suspicious is asked to contact them.
