An artist from the south east Northumberland has been short-listed for a prestigious international wildlife art prize.
Kate Simpson, from Morpeth, has been selected for the David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation’s Wildlife Artist of the Year exhibition at London’s prestigious Mall Galleries.
Kate will be displaying her work and vying for the £10,000 top prize this summer.
More than 150 works of art are short-listed for this year’s competition.
The work will be on display and for sale in the main gallery raising awareness and funds for critically endangered mammals in Africa and Asia.
Kate said: “Northumberland’s vast wealth of breath-taking wildlife inspired me to paint the unique animals which inhabit England’s border county, which influenced my work and attracted buyers from all over the world.”
