Arts initiative awarded £1,200 by High Sheriff

A DANCE and music initiative in Blyth has been awarded £1,200 by the High Sheriff of Northumberland.

NE Music Factory is a community interest company based in Blyth which serves the whole of the north east, delivering music and urban dance training in community settings.

It works with around 600 young people per week aged between four and 19, and they have now been given the money for urban dance projects.

Steph O'Gorman and Connor Scott were invited to the High Sheriff Youth against Crime Awards to accept the donation.

Anna Meling, dance director said: "We are delighted to be awarded this money in recognition of our dance projects.

"Urban dance is a fantastic way of engaging with our young communities and we endeavour to make dance accessible to all."

For more information on the dance and music project visit www.nemusicfactory.com or call Anna on (01670) 542871.
